Stage 42
Overview
One of the largest Off-Broadway theaters in New York — one seat short of the 500-seat threshold that would make it Broadway-eligible. Built by the Shubert Organization as their first Off-Broadway venue, it offers stadium-style seating with excellent sightlines and acoustics from front to back, at generally lower price points than Broadway houses nearby.
Notable Shows
- Gotta Dance! (current, dance revue)
- Fiddler on the Roof (2019 Off-Broadway transfer)
- Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern

Built in 2002 as the Little Shubert Theatre, designed by Hugh Hardy — the first new theater built by the Shubert Organization since the Ethel Barrymore in 1928, and their first Off-Broadway venue. Renamed Stage 42 in 2015.
