Marquis Theatre
Overview
Unique on Broadway for being located on the third floor of a hotel (the Marriott Marquis) rather than a standalone building, this modern, contemporary house is reached via escalators from the street-level box office. It has some of the coziest, most comfortable seats on Broadway with excellent sightlines throughout, and is a favored venue for large-scale musical spectacle.
Notable Shows
- Stranger Things: The First Shadow (currently running; confirmed still playing as of September 2026, scheduled to close January 3, 2027)

History
Opened in 1986, designed by architect John C. Portman Jr. as part of the New York Marriott Marquis hotel — making it Broadway's newest legitimate theater and the only one located entirely inside a hotel building.
