Belasco Theatre
Overview
Built by legendary impresario David Belasco — nicknamed the "Bishop of Broadway" for his all-black wardrobe — as a personal creative laboratory, complete with his own penthouse apartment above the theater. Renovated in 2010, it's now considered one of the most beautifully lit houses on Broadway, with an intimate, faintly gothic atmosphere that has made it a magnet for major dramatic revivals and character-driven musicals.
Notable Shows

History
Opened in 1907 as the Stuyvesant Theatre by producer-director David Belasco, and renamed for him in 1910. Purchased by the Shubert Organization in 1948, both its facade and its ornate lobby/auditorium interior are NYC landmarks — the theater is renowned for its lighting design and intimate atmosphere.
